Germany's Largest Wine Producer Group Signs on for Guangzhou International Wine & Spirits Fair 2012
The scheduling of various exhibitions in 2012 will be announced on the internet one after another. Among them, the 8th Guangzhou International Wine & Spirits Fair, which is known as the largest imported wine and spirits exhibition in mainland China, will be held on May 25-27, 2012 at China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex. The organizer revealed that Germany's largest wine production group, the German Wine Union, will be exhibiting with eight wineries from seven German appellations.
The German Wine Federation, with an annual production of 30 million bottles of all types of wines, consists of eight German wineries under the unified brand name of Magalhaes. The eight wineries come from seven of Germany's most important appellations:
  Hagåtten Winery
Rheingau is the eighth largest wine region in Germany. Although Rheingau is only a small appellation compared to the big appellations such as Rheinhessen and Pfalz, many people say that Rheingau is the most refined wine region in Germany. However, many people say that Rheingau is the most exquisite wine region in Germany. Riesling is the crown jewel of the region's wines.
The vineyards of Hagåtten have been in existence for 750 years. With 70 hectares of vineyards, Hagåten is the largest winery in the Rheingau. It was the first winery in the Rheingau to be awarded the Riesling appellation of origin.
  Château Evander Friedrich
The Moselle is the fifth largest wine appellation in Germany. The vineyards are located in the valleys on both sides of the Moselle, a tributary of the Rhine, which is the largest steep-sloped wine-growing region in the world. The steep hills can only be plowed and cared for by hand, while ensuring that the grapes are well cared for, and the Mosel is also the most heavily planted appellation for Riesling.
  Tuggenheim Winery
Franconia is the sixth largest wine-producing region in Germany. Wine has been made in the region since the eighth century A.D. and was once the largest winegrowing site of the Holy Roman Empire north of the Alps. The Tuggenheim winery has received nine national awards and 15 state awards.
  Rem Valley Winery
The Uttenberg region is the 4th largest wine-producing region in Germany. The history of wine production in the region dates back more than 1,200 years. It is one of the most important centers of red wine production in Germany.
On both sides of the picturesque Rem River, the 1,500 fruit growers and their families who work for Rem Valley Winery carefully tend the winery's vineyards. The ultimate pursuit of quality and taste, and a love of creative living are the attitudes of the people of the Rheinland. For the people here, providing the right wine for every taste bud is at the center of life.
With a total of 650 hectares of cultivated grapes, Rem Valley is the fifth largest winery in Germany. The annual sales revenue is around 16 million euros, with Torlingen being the main grape variety produced by the winery with 234 hectares.
Château de l'Irenco, Throne of the Crown
Baden is the third largest wine-producing region in Germany and the most southerly wine-producing region in the country. It is separated from the French region of Alsace by the Rhine River and therefore cultivates wine varieties similar to those in France. It produces the best Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris in Germany. The Royal Throne Irenco Winery has 394 hectares of vineyards and 792 vineyard farms. It is one of the largest wineries in Baden, which is also the warmest wine-growing region in Germany.
  Chateau Laufen
Château Laufen, which is also located in the historic Governor's district of Baden, has a long history and was awarded 43 gold medals in 2009.
  Chateau Rhyoland-Kunlibach
Pfalz is the second largest wine-producing region in Germany. The history of grape cultivation dates back to the Roman Empire. The famous German Wine Route runs through Pfalz and is a fairytale route for experiencing wine culture and beautiful scenery.
The wines of Château Rheinland-Kunlibach have been known since the late Middle Ages, and with over 450 hectares of vineyards, the wines are renowned in England, Sweden, Holland, the United States of America and Japan.
  Westerhofen Winery
Rheinhessen is Germany's first wine appellation. It is the oldest wine region in Germany. Within its borders are the oldest wine plantations in Germany. The history dates back to 742 AD.
The 86-year-old Westerhofen winery combines tradition with modern technology and facilities, with 250 vineyard farms carefully tending 345 hectares of vineyards, and was ranked 38th among the 100 best wineries in Germany in 2008.
Germany is one of the world's top ten wine-producing countries, with a history of two thousand years of winemaking. The German Wine Alliance's tour of the Guangzhou Wine Fair aims to showcase the long history of German wine culture, and to promote the sales of German wines in China by entering the South China market.
Ms. Jia Yanping, General Manager of Guangzhou Techtone Exhibition Co., Ltd. said in an interview with the reporter that although there is still nearly half a year to go before the eighth exhibition, many overseas wineries have already decided to set up their booths as early as possible. For example, the German Wine Union has signed a contract for two sessions of the exhibition in 2012, and a total of eight booths will fully demonstrate the great charm of Riesling, the queen of white wines, and at the same time bring other grape varieties rich in German characteristics, such as Dohnfeld, Tollingen, and the international varieties, such as Pinot Noir and other grape wines.
